Jim Copitzky grew up in southern California on a family farm and started his career as a stock boy at Sears. After years of dedication, exemplary customer service, hard work, and loyalty, he was named president of Sears Inc. However, the long hours, travel, and sacrifices required by his position led him to the realization that family was more important to him and ultimately, he left Sears and opened Bassett Furniture Tukwila.

Over the past 24 years two generations of the Copitzky family was involved in the success of the business. Copitzky’s wife, Diana, ensured the showrooms were decorated flawlessly. His eldest son, Drew, joined the management team and his daughter, Sara, was the facilities manager at the Tukwila store. Todd ran the Redmond store and his three children worked at both locations through high school and college.

As the city of Tukwila evolved into a vibrant hub for entertainment, shopping, and dining, Bassett Furniture built a reputation for quality and service. Today, the family-owned business remains a beloved fixture in Tukwila, known for its wide range of furniture styles at competitive prices. The store’s convenient location and ample parking have made it a favorite shopping destination for locals and visitors alike.
